Inter Milan retained the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday after Edin Dzeko inspired his team to a 3-0 victory over local rivals AC Milan

Inter Milan retained the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday after Edin Dzeko inspired his platoon to a 3- 0 palm over original rivals AC Milan. The damage was done in the opening 21 twinkles in Riyadh thanks to Dzeko, who played a defence- splitting pass for Federico Dimarco’s 10th- nanosecond nature and doubled Inter’s lead 11 twinkles latterly. Lautaro Martinez also added a brilliantly taken third in the 77th nanosecond to accentuate Inter’s superiority on a night in which Milan simply did not show up. Inter claim the Italian season’s first jewel as they did last time when they beat Juventus.

“We put in a great performance, the boys were brilliant from the first nanosecond until the final whoosh,” Dzeko told Mediaset.

“We won the Super Cup last season so we knew how great it’s to win it. I am really happy that we are bringing home another jewel, and I hope there will be more in the future.”

Without the rumbustious soundtrack of a packed San Siro, Wednesday’s match in Saudi Arabia was an unusual Milan derby but that will not stop Inter suckers claiming original bragging rights as well as the Super Cup for the seventh time.

Both brigades are running way behind Napoli in what’s beginning to look like a one- platoon title charge but Inter appeared a class above uninspired Italian titleholders Milan who slightly laid a glove on Simone Inzaghi’s side.

“We were not over to the task in the first half, we made too numerous miscalculations and from there it was delicate to turn the match around,” Milan trainer Stefano Pioli told Mediaset.

“The defeat hurts because it was a jewel we wanted to win, but the rest of the season is still there for us. We just need to get back to playing the way we know how.”

Milan continued their sluggish launch to the new time and Dzeko penalized them by helping Inter to a two- thing half- time lead which was further than justified.

The 36- time-old beautifully transferred Nicolo Barella tripping in behind Milan’s defence, allowing the Italy midfielder to roll a low pass which compatriot Dimarco had no problems put away down.

Dzeko also penalized sloppy Milan defending of a free- kick by charging through onto Alessandro Bastoni’s drilled long pass, cutting inside Sandro Tonali and driving home a fine strike from a tight angle.

Milan raved and puffed in the alternate half but the closest they came to getting back into the game was the underwhelming Rafael Leao smashing over the bar three twinkles after the break.

And Martinez made absolutely sure Inzaghi would claim his fourth Super Cup as a trainer when the Argentina forward gauge a bamboozled Fikayo Tomori and controlled Milan Skriniar’s long pass before put away home a beautiful finish with the outside of his right bottom. Know More Sports News…
