RCB captain Smriti Mandhana’s poor run continued with the bat as her side suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in the Women’s Premier League on Friday.

The script remains woeful for the Royal contenders Bangalore in the initial edition of the Women’s Premier League. The Smriti Mandhana- led side fell to its fourth loss on the witch, this time a 10- gate trouncing at the hands of UP Warriorz at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

Mandhana won the toss and decided to club first and came in with a side featuring three changes- Megan Schutt sat out for Erin Burns while Sahana Pawar and Komal Zanzad replaced Preeti Bose and Poonam Khemnar independently.

Still, Mandhana’s poor run continued with yet another low score. Mandhana’s struggles against off- spin came to the fore formerly more when Rajeshwari Gayakwad sailed one outside off refuse, forcing her to slice the ball. Unfortunately, she set up Anjali Sarvani at redundant cover.

Sophie Devine could only manage a 24- ball 36 while trying to anchor the innings with Ellyse Perry. Lattices in fell race and Perry took control of the middle overs with Shreyanka Patil and Erin Burns dicing in at the other end. still, a disciplined UP attack exposed the jitters and specialized troubles of the RCB batters.

Deepti Sharma, who has been having asub-standard event, stepped up with the ball. She removed Kanika Ahuja and Burns, and ultimately knocked off half- centurion Perry. Sophie Ecclestone, who nipped Devine’s promising launch in the cub, also endeavored the clean-up act as she took out Shreyanka, Renuka Singh and Sahana to circumscribe RCB to just 138 in19.3 overs. UP didn’t concede a single redundant and went with a spin- dominated attack, staying true to their objects at the transaction.

Chasing 139, Alyssa Healy was joined by Devika Vaidya, with the platoon operation deciding against the Healy- Sehrawat pairing up top. It turned out to be a great game to trial with the brace giving UP its alternate palm in three games, with seven overs to spare. Healy( 96n.o. off 47 deliveries) missed out on a century but will take the palm and the points to charge.

When Royal contenders Bangalore and UP Warriorz face off in the Women’s Premier League( WPL) at the Brabourne colosseum on Friday, there’s a fair bit at stake.

Both these sides find themselves at different points of the same diapason. RCB is still licking its injuries after losses in all three games played so far. UP Warriorz had one fantastic palm, against the Gujarat titans, where Grace Harris pulled off a stunning chase but the side has looked a bit unsteady since.

The UP Warriorz setup is in an unenviable position at the moment. The overseas constituents in this pie aren’t relatively settled yet. Alyssa Healy and Sophie Ecclestone have proven to be undroppable, courtesy captaincy and a good record in India independently. Tahlia McGrath, who came into the event after a spare patch, showed form with an unbeaten 50- ball 90 against the Delhi centrals. Speedster Shabnim Ismail’s addition in the game against the centrals didn’t have the asked effect. While she was provident, her fiesty pace couldn’t unhinge the Delhi fur order. Harris ‘ addition could have given Warriorz a stronger chance than they gave themselves against Lanning’s platoon and Ismail might just pave the way for the Aussie’s return to the side, especially against a piled RCB outfit.

“It’s a nice problem to have, dropping players like Grace. But for us, it’s about the conditions and the match- ups, and we allowed we demanded some pace outspoken. So, Grace is veritably unlucky. I allowed

I was going to miss out, but that’s a good problem to have, ” McGrath said after that the DC game. But is it, really?

An unsettled lineup isn’t allowing Healy to work on harmonious results, with the side constantly looking for a player to step up and take the game through every time it takes to the field. Healy, herself, needs to find a way to stick around beyond the powerplay to make a platform for the Warriorz to take off from. McGrath coming OK bodes well for her and the side as it steadies up a slightly inconsistent middle order for the girls in unheroic and grandiloquent.

A problem area for UP is Deepti Sharma. As is the case in transnational institutions off late, Deepti has been chancing it hard to get going from the word go with the club. Her part down the order requires smart fur and keeping the run rate healthy but she has plodded in that mould for important of this event. Against DC, she made a laborious 20- ball 12, adding to a 16- ball 11 vs the titans.

UP is over against an RCB lineup that has horsepower till Megan Schutt atno. 9. Deepti has not been the ace with the ball either. In two games, she has just two lattices but has given away 67 runs in her eight overs. For India she was a potent new ball option, commodity UP doesn’t have and could use.

Royal contenders aren’t without issues themselves but are the more assured fur lineup of the two brigades. All eyes however are on commander Smriti Mandhana who seems to be carrying the world’s weight on her shoulders after three discouraging losses.

“occasionally as captain, you take it all on your shoulders. We’re trying to wrap around Smriti. We’ve a lot of captaincy experience in this platoon and it’s about chancing the balance between not wanting to give her too important information and having too numerous voices but also making sure she has an observance to hear and bounce ideas off of. This is an stupendous occasion for her to explore her captaincy. You do n’t feel a sense of fear around her and that’s a great particularity to have as a captain and I hope we can get a palm for her, ” Sophie Devine said after RCB’s 11- run loss to the titans.

Smriti has just 80 runs in the three games and will want to go deep with Devine to put UP under pressure. RCB has the horsepower in its fur to handle a chase but one gift they will want to use better is Shreyanka Patil. The spin- bowling each- rounder has been intrepid with her shots when she takes to the field and could be just what RCB needs to keep the runs coming when in a sticky situation.
