The BCCI has also invited applications for a position in the junior selection committee after S. Sharath was promoted to the senior selection committee earlier this month.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India( BCCI) has invited operations for two positions- one in the elderly women’s selection commission and the other in the men’s inferior selection commission.

With Mithu Mukherjee the elderly public chooser from east zone- ending her term, the Board needs a relief to constitute the five- member women’s selection panel, headed by Neetu David.

A former India transnational, Mukherjee was part of an earlier public selection panel, but had about two times remaining when the BCCI constituted the current panel in September, 2020. But with her term eventually ending in September last time, the commission was without a representative from the east zone.

Still, the announcement, which is available on the BCCI website, doesn’t specify anything about zone and specifies that ‘ former players who have represented the women’s public platoon and have retired at least five times ago ’ will be eligible for the part.

Among the other criteria set by the BCCI, the seeker must elect ‘ the stylish possible platoon in a fair and transparent manner ’ and prepare a strong bench strength for the separate brigades.

The seeker is anticipated to attend platoon meetings as and when needed and trip to watch domestic and transnational matches. It also states that the seeker must “ be responsible for vetting and opting trainers and Support Staff( physiotherapists, coaches, therapists, judges, and croakers) for the separate brigades. ”

While appointing captain in each format is also one of the criteria, focus has also been given on addressing the media on platoon selection as and when instructed by BCCI.

While Neetu heads the panel, Renu Margarate, V. Kalpana,  Arati Vaidya are the other members of the commission.

The inferior selection commission is also short of a member after its quondam president. Sharath was promoted to the elderly public selection commission. As per the criteria, the seeker should have played a minimum of 25 first- class matches and should have retired from the game at least 5 times agone.

While other conditions follow the standard norm, one of the intriguing points is that the seeker needs to “ inculcate proper ethics in the youth, particularly through relations with elderly and former players on issues similar as medicines, laying and match- fixing, etc. ”

After Sharath moving on to the elderly selection panel, the inferior commission comprises Ranadeb Bose, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Krishan Mohan and Pratik Patel.

The deadline for both the jobs is at 6 pm on January 28. Once the Board receives the operations, the three- member Cricket Advisory Committee, headed by Ashok Malhotra, will conduct the interviews. Know More Women Cricket News…
