Zeeshan Maqsood was awarded the player of the match award as he scalped a wicket and notched a half-century to help Oman chase the target with 11 balls to spare.

Ireland suffered a shocking five- gate defeat at the hands of Ireland in the ICC ODI World Cup qualifiers at the Bulawayo Athletic Club sports ground in Zimbawe on Monday.

Kashyap Prajapati led a superb run chase as Oman earned a shock five- gate palm over Ireland in their opening World Cup qualifier in Zimbabwe.

George Dockrell’s career-stylish 91 helped Ireland set a palm target of 282 and half- centuries from Prajapati( 72), Aqib Ilyas( 52) and Zeeshan Maqsood( 59) assured Oman reached it.

Andy McBrine and Paul Stirling opened with a 51- run cooperation after Ireland had been put in but two lattices in as numerous balls from Fayyaz Butt and Bilal Khan checked their progress.

Half- centuries from Kashyap Kumar Harishbhai, Zeeshan Maqsood, and Aquib Ilyas made it easier for the middle- eastern country, which ended up with285/5, three further than the target, with 11 balls to spare.

Maqsood was awarded the player of the match award for his each-round performance. The 35- time-old indented up a 67- ball 59 and claimed the gate of Andrew Balbernie.

Before in the first innings, Ireland would have been confident after a flurry of lower- order runs helped it to281/7, with Harry Tector( 52 off 82 balls) and George Dockrell( 91n.o. off 89 balls) starring with the club after Oman won the toss and tagged to coliseum.

But Oman chased its target down in style, as a cooperation worth 94 between Ilyas and Prajapati laid the foundation, with Mohammad Nadeem( 46 *), Ayaan Khan( 21) and Shoaib Khan( 19 *) furnishing the needed finish.

Ireland and Oman will disaccord in the fourth match of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 at Bulawayo Athletic Club in Bulawayo on Monday, June 19. Both Ireland and Oman will be looking for a positive launch to their crusade as both are among the outlanders to finish in the top two to secure a World Cup spot.

Irish side managed to fluently chase a 313- run target against USA in their first warm-up game but suffered a shock two- gate defeat against Netherlands after being sailed out on just 193. On the other hand, Oman reached the ACC Premier Cup 2023semi-finals and were emotional in the prologue matches despite losing both games against Zimbabwe and Nepal. Know More Latest Cricket News…
