“The 26-year-old defender, who has been capped on 23 occasions for his country, arrives at Villa for an undisclosed fee,” Villa said in a statement.

Aston Villa have inked Spain transnational Centre back Pau Torres from Villarreal for an undisclosed figure, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.

British media reported Torres had a release clause of 70 million euros ($77.64 million) but with a time left on his contract with Villarreal, the English side have agreed a figure in the region of31.5 million pounds ($40.88 million).

“The 26- time-old protector, who has been limited on 23 occasions for his country, arrives at Villa for an undisclosed figure, ” Villa said in a statement.

“A native of Villarreal, Torres came through the species of his birthplace club and went on to come a crucial player for the La Liga side. ”

Torres won the Europa League with Villarreal under current Villa master Unai Emery when they beat Manchester United in the 2021 final.

He joins Youri Tielemans among Villa’s close season rookies after the midfielder joined from Leicester City as they add experience ahead of their Europa Conference League crusade.

He made 173 appearances for his babyhood platoon, scoring 12 times, and has played 23 times for Spain.

Torres made his first Villarreal appearance in 2016, getting the first player born in the small Valencian city to debut for the club in 13 times.

He snappily established himself as a crucial player in the team, winning the 2021 Europa League under Emery when he was among the songwriters in the penalty shootout palm over Manchester United.

Torres made his debut for Spain in 2019 and has played both at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

He’s Aston Villa’s alternate summer signing, after Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans arrived on a free transfer from relegated Leicester City.

Villa finished seventh in the Premier League last season, securing qualification for the Europa Conference League.

This signing veritably much has the stamp of the sporting director- director cooperation Villa knew they were forging when they brought Monchi to the club to work with Unai Emery.

It’ll be intriguing to see how Emery now balances his team.

Paying that kind of plutocrat for someone he knows so well does not suggest Emery will use Torres anywhere other than his favoured central protective part.

What will that mean for Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Diego Carlos? Indeed with a European crusade in front of them, keeping four educated central protectors happy isn’t going to be easy.

Managing that’s Emery’s job of course. For now, he’s continuing to drive Villa forward in his (Monchi’s) vision.

Roque caught Barca’s attention after starring for the Athleti co and Brazil youth brigades. He helped his club reach the final of the Copa Libertadores last season and lately earned his first elderly cap for his country.

The teenager has scored 22 pretensions in 65 appearances for Athleti co, including six in his once six games.

“Pretensions,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday when asked what Barca can anticipate from Roque.

“He veritably much has his own style. You can not really compare him with (retired Brazil strikers) Ronaldo or Romario. He’s someone that’s deadly with both bases inside the box.

“He’s different to what we’ve had then before. However, it would be Ronaldo, who was a force of nature with us, If you had to compare him to anyone. (Roque) has bags of implicit, is youthful, important and Brazilian.” Know More Latest Football News…
