Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a Member, in particular, the requirement to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) class of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been suspended with immediate effect for government hindrance, the sport’s governing body said on Friday.

Sri Lanka’s ministry of sport dismissed SLC’s board and replaced it with an interim commission following the country’s poor performance at this time’s World Cup but the sacking was stayed by Sri Lanka’s Court of Appeal.

“The ICC Board met moment and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its scores as a Member, ” it said in a statement.

“In particular, the demand to manage its affairs autonomously and insure that there’s no government hindrance in the governance, regulation and/ or administration of justice in Sri Lanka.

“The conditions of the suspense will be decided by the ICC Board in due course. ”

Sri Lanka won only two of its nine games at the World Cup and sits ninth in the 10- platoon standings. Reuters has communicated SLC for comment.

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe called SLC “ treacherous and loose ” in a statement to congress on Nov. 3, saying board members should abdicate.

Following the abdication of SLC clerk Mohan de Silva and the sacking of the board, Ranasinghe replaced them with an interim commission chaired by World Cup- winning former captain Arjuna Ranatunga.

But ousted SLC President Shammi Silva solicited the court against the redundancy and was granted a two- week stay order, with a full hail to follow. The matter was also bandied in Sri Lanka’s congress before this week.

SLC also issued a statement on allegations made by Ranasinghe about the transfer of two million USD from its accounts, saying they were used for functional charges only and not transferred out of their accounts.

“SLC receives finances and backing income in USD, which are designedly kept in our USD accounts to influence exchange rate oscillations, ” it said.

“Still, it’s important to note that SLC needs to carry out its operations in Sri Lanka and fulfil fiscal scores to stakeholders, including suppliers, on a regular base.

“To meet these charges, SLC follows the practice of transferring finances from its USD account to its original currency( LKR) accounts. This has been a long- standing practice, as SLC doesn’t decide significant income in original currency. ” Know More Latest Cricket News…
