Dasun Shanaka wouldn’t have reached the landmark had it not been for Rohit Sharma‘s intervention. The India captain withdrew an appeal for run out at the non-striker’s end by Mohammed Shami after the batter had backed up too far.

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir was present in the broadcaster’s plant as Virat Kohli indented up his 45th ODI ton in the first one- day match against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on Tuesday. Kohli’s super show with the club saw him earn plenitude of cheer on social media. In the process, Kohli also went on to match the fabulous Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most’ home hundreds’ in ODIs. As comparisons between Kohli and Tendulkar erupted among suckers and experts, Gambhir played it down, suggesting the’ rules have changed’ from the time when Sachin used to play.

Gambhir remained firm while saying no to the idea of comparison between players in different ages. The former India opening batter cited fielding restrictions and the vacuity of a alternate new ball as some of the’ rule changes’ that have worked in the favour of batters in the current period.

“It’s not about the record actually. Virat Kohli will go on to get numerous further centuries than Sachin Tendulkar in the 50- over format. See, the rules have changed,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.

“You shouldn’t compare ages. It’s not fair to compare ages as well where there was one new ball as compared to now when there are 2 new balls with five fielders outside. But yes, he has been a master in this format and he has shown it over such a long period of time,” he added.

Sanjay Manjrekar, who was also on the panel for the match, said that he has no mistrustfulness that Kohli will go on to catch Tendulkar in the list of utmost ODI hundreds.

“He( Kohli) isn’t an nature so in every 50- overs game, he’s not going there from ball number 1 and you’re looking at the whole innings to get a hundred. He has maundered at 3 utmost of the times so that’s commodity you have got to consider. I’ve no doubt that he’ll catch Tendulkar in one- day hundreds. I mean, it’s just four hundreds to equal Tendulkar. It may be in a time and a half. It’s a 50- over World Cup time so I believe it could be,” he said.

Kohli formerly has 45 hundreds in transnational justice when it comes to the 50- over format. Tendulkar, on the other hand, has 49 tons in ODIs.

When asked about the noteworthy incident in the post-match donation form, Indian captain Rohit lauded his Sri Lankan counterpart for playing a gallant knock.” I had no idea Mohammed Shami had done that. When he went up in an appeal. Again, he( Shanaka) is fur on 98. The way he maundered was brilliant. We got to give it to him. We can not get him out like that. We wanted to get him out the way we allowed we’d get him out. But that wasn’t commodity that we allowed

But again, headdresses off to him, he played really well,” Rohit told Murali Kartik after India’s palm over Sri Lanka.

After retaining the strike in Shami’s final over, Shanaka smashed a boundary on the alternate-last ball of the contest to complete his century. Sri Lankan commander Shanaka remained unbeaten on 108 off 88 balls as Sri Lanka mustered 306- 8 in 50 overs. still, Shanaka’s fur heroics went in vain as Kohli- starrer India excelled the callers by 67 runs to take a 1- 0 lead in the three- match series. Rohit’s India will meet Shanaka- led Sri Lanka in the 2nd ODI on Thursday. Know More News….
