Liverpool has called for an end to “ vile chants ” about the Hillsborough Stadium disaster after it was heard during Tuesday’s goalless Premier League draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The 1989 FA Cup semifinal was the scene of Britain’s worst sporting disaster when 97 Liverpool suckers lost their lives after a crush in an over-crowded and fended- in quadrangle.

One victim failed in July 2021 after suffering severe and unrecoverable brain damage.

“We know the impact these vile chants have on those who continue to suffer as a result of football tragedies. For their sake, this has to stop, ” Liverpool twittered.

Chelsea apologised and said “ spiteful chanting has no place in football ”.

The Premier League said it condemned the “ tragedy chanting ” at the match.

“We continue to treat this as an inferior issue and are seeking to address it as a precedence, ” it added.

Liverpool trainer Jurgen Klopp said his side’s 0- 0 draw at Chelsea on Tuesday was “ a little step in the right direction ” after a 4- 1 trouncing by Manchester City last weekend and offered stopgap for Sunday’s match against league leader Arsenal.

“Each success starts with being delicate to beat and we’ve to be delicate to beat again, ” Klopp told journalists after his important- changed platoon survived an early rush by Chelsea.

Still, we can win this game, “ If we’re delicate to beat against Arsenal. However, Arsenal will just go over us, ” he said ahead of the visit by the in- form Gunners to An field, If not.

Klopp made six changes from the starting platoon which lost against Manchester City on Saturday, including three protectors which he said represented “ a real challenge ” for his players.

After helping Chelsea by constantly losing possession beforehand in the game, he praised his platoon for fixing the problems.

“Not the most spectacular one, ” he said, pertaining to the game, “ but a little step in the right direction. ”

The draw left Liverpool in eighth place in the league table, seven points behind Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth title holders League qualifying spot having played a game lower than Spurs.

Chelsea was held to yet another 0- 0 draw by Liverpool on Tuesday in its first match since sacking trainer Graham Potter with both sides displaying the same problems that have left them long hauls off the pace in this season’s Premier League.

The goalless stalemate was the fourth in a row between the two brigades- including last season’s FA and League Cup tests both of which Liverpool won on penalties.

Big- spending Chelsea dominated much of the Stamford Bridge encounter against a important- changed Liverpool side, which sounded visibly low on confidence following its levying 4- 1 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.

Yet Chelsea passed one occasion after another, repeating the kind of toothless display that ended up going Potter his job at Stamford Bridge after only 31 games in charge. Know More Football News…
