Asia Cup 2022: Here is a look at the head-to-head record between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, their T20I stats, leading run-getters and wicket-takers.
Afghanistan will take on Bangladesh in the third match of the 2022 Asia Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Tuesday. Afghanistan is coming off a thumping eight-wicket win against Sri Lanka in its tournament opener while Bangladesh is yet to kickstart its campaign.

While Afghanistan enjoys a favourable head-to-head record against Bangladesh in T20Is, the two-match bilateral series held between the sides ended level 1-1 earlier this year.

The Bangladesh vs Afghanistan Asia Cup 2022 match is available to be streamed live on the Disney+ Hotstar and website and telecast on the Star Sports network.

The Asia Cup 2022 tournament is underway in the United Arab Emirates with matches being held in Dubai and Sharjah.

The six-team tournament comprising India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan is currently in the group stage phase. It will be followed by the Super 4s and the final.

The two groups – Group A with India, Pakistan and Hong Kong and Group B with Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh – will reward four spots to the top two teams in each group to the next stage, the Super 4.

A1, A2, B1 and B2 will then be placed in the same group. The second round-robin stage will have all the teams facing each other.

The top two in the Super 4 stage will then face off in the Asia Cup 2022 final on September 11 in Dubai.

The Asia Cup Super 4 stage will begin on September 3 in Sharjah, followed by five matches in Dubai until September 9.

India and Pakistan could face once again in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament in the Super 4. The teams will face off one another on September 4 in Dubai, provided they finish as the top teams in Group A. India and Pakistan could also meet in the Asia Cup 2022 final, if they manage to finish the Supe 4 round-robin stage in the first and second position.

India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan qualified for the Super 4s in the 2018 Asia Cup, also held in the UAE. India and Bangladesh topped the group table and progressed to the final. The Rohit Sharma-led side then defended its title after beating Bangladesh by three wickets in the final.

Bangladesh will kick start their Asia Cup 2022 campaign when they meet a high-flying Afghanistan side in Match 3 of Group B in the competition at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. The Bangla Tigers have a new T20 captain in the form of veteran Shakib Al Hasan, who is all set to play his milestone 100th T20 international match in their tournament opener. Bangladesh are one of the three sides in this group with the other being Sri Lanka, who suffered a hammering from the hands of Afghanistan in the opening fixture.

Speaking more about the performance of Mohammed Nabi-led Afghanistan against the Lankan Lions in the first match of the tournament, Fazalhaq Farooqi and the other bowlers blew the opposition away as they dismissed them for just 105 in 19.4 overs. Farooqi delivered his career-best spell of 3/11 in 3.4 overs while skipper Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took two wickets apiece. It turned out to be the fourth-lowest team total in Asia Cup (T20 format).

The chase seemed a mere formality for the Afghan openers as both Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz looked in a hurry. The former remained unbeaten on 37 while Gurbaz played brilliant innings of 40 off just 18 with three fours and four maximums. They reached the target in just 10.1 overs to seal a comfortable victory in the opening match.

The Bangla Tigers will be wary of the threat Afghanistan possess which Sri Lanka already witnessed and Shakib and his men would look to start their campaign on a winning note. On the other hand, Afghanistan will search for a victory that will surely send them to the next round of competition.

Head-to-HeadBangladesh and Afghanistan have met each other in eight T20 internationals so far with Bangladesh emerging victorious on just three occasions and Afghanistan on five. At a neutral venue, both teams have clashed in three matches with Afghanistan winning all three of them. Read More Latest Asia Cup News….
